What Art does? Was Macht Kunst?

Art goes beyond the day to day; it is accompanied of a sense of mystery and wonder. What it does to us is unexplained, invisible (happening in the ‘core space’ within the individuals). It makes us want to be introspective, listen to our selves and have a dialogue with others. It makes look at what is out of balance in our lives, and needs restoring and replenishing.

Experiencing art opens up the imagination, we imagine what other artists have lived and experienced and this prompts us to explore our own reality and approach our own creativity.

Art has a strong communicating power; it communicates thoughts and emotion and the fact that this dialogue with others exists is a sign of a free and healthy society.

Kate Rogers - Inhaling/Exhaling 2011

This film is the first of a series of filmed experiments which I look at the Lily as embodying elements of my being. I started with the idea of the lily becoming me, becoming how I breathe and live, and being the object I am able to breathe from.
